4.0 out of 5 stars For the price, it is a well built unit., April 15, 2010

I wanted to post some information on this unit because I could not find the following info before I purchased it.

The minimum seat height is 18 inches. If looking at this for a young child, beware of the height requirements.
If you look closely at the photo, you can see that there is a little "bell" on the handle bar. The "bell" is rung by pulling the little spring-loaded hammer back with your thumb and letting it hit the bell part.

I did have to take off a star, because the instructions that come with it are completely written in German. If you feel you will need detailed instructions to assemble this unit, you need to look elsewhere. The "instructions" consist of a single sheet of paper with 8 images on it labeled 1-8. Even with the lame instructions I was able to assemble it in about 10 minutes with a few tools. Everything is in metric. Assembly requires 11, 13, and 15mm wrenches, I only had sockets and they worked. You will need a 6mm allen wrench... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Great transition bike, June 6, 2010
This review is from: M-Wave Child's Running Bike (Red) (Sports)
This bike is a little taller than some other running bike's out there. My son is 40" and wears a 4T. I would not recommend this for a child much smaller than that.

As the previous reviewer mentioned, the instructions are in German. However, the directions are really just the pictures anyway, so it doesn't make much difference. The only issue with the assembly was the brakes. We never could get them right. That being said, I don't think brakes are necessary for a running bike. Many of them don't include them anyway. Another problem we had was the bell. It broke as we were putting it on. Excluding the brakes and the bell, the quality of the actual bike is excellent. I expect to be able to pass this down and for it to still be in great shape for the next one.

I considered whether I should get a bike with or without the foot rests. I'm glad I got one without. My son can just lift his feet when he's gliding and he can quickly put his feet back down when... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Got 2 of these, and LOVE them!, April 25, 2011

I searched for a while for a good balance bike for my 3 yr 1 mo old twins. I looked at less expensive and more expensive models. The decision I finally made is that I wanted a metal bike, not a wooden one. Some reviews stated the wooden bikes broke as well as did not hold well if left outside. I also wanted a bike that looked "real", so that my kids felt like big kids riding next to their parents. And, since I needed two of these, the price was a big consideration. On top of it all, I wanted a bike that would last us at least a couple years, so the smaller models were out of the picture since they only went up to 4 years of age. I chose this model, and I could not be happier!

The bikes arrived in 2 days, free shipping, and in a perfect condition, each in a separate double box. We lowered the seats by taking the "accordion" piece off (thanks to the prev. reviewer who suggested this). Directions consist of a set of brightly colored pictures, and my husband put both...
